What is “psychotherapy”?
Psychotherapy is a well-validated method for getting relief and solving problems.  It can  promote personal growth, help y0u acquire skills, get things into proportion. Psychotherapy commonly contributes to an increased sense of freedom, aliveness and possibility.
What is “brief therapy”?
Some problems seem harder to solve than they actually are and can be addressed in a few focused sessions.
What is “psychoanalysis”?
Psychoanalysis is the original psychotherapy though now very different from the early 1900’s version.  That childhood influences character, people have conflicting wishes and that experience alters both mind and brain were all once considered odd ideas that are now widely accepted.  As a treatment, psychoanalysis can delve into problems of long-standing.
People using psychoanalysis are not necessarily more troubled than those in psychotherapy.  They may have a lot of unfulfilled potential or dilemmas that are just tougher to address.
Sometimes people who have not gotten results reject psychotherapy altogether when the type of therapy may not have been right for them in the first place.
Psychoanalysis does require commitment as sessions are more frequent and the process can be lengthy but it can also accomplish more.  Often thought of as being like an archaeological dig or journey back to childhood, it is more accurate to say that psychoanalysis is a close study of how a person engineers part of their current experience in terms that are outside their awareness.
Psychotherapy or psychoanalysis can be a fine investment because the removal of certain inhibitions often helps people become more successful in their careers.
